The Vision

One day as I was walking to work I had a vision. It seemed so natural and surreal at the same time. Imagine with me if you will, a timeline of a young child and an adult. The young child seemed stuck in some ways unable to become emotionally mature. Then Jesus walked back through the timeline, into the past, took the child by the hand and together walked into the present. As they walked together, the child started to grow up.

As we grow up, we form opinions and beliefs based on our experiences. Some experiences form positive, Godly beliefs.  Negative experiences stunt our emotional maturity. In some ways, the reactions can be much like that of the younger child. When we allow our heavenly Father into the past places of pain to heal us emotionally, we become emotionally and spiritually mature.

I thought about that vision for quite a while. Little did I know I would live it out. For the next two years, I went on an inward journey of the heart. It was intense, but it is what transformed my thoughts, attitudes and my life. This healing opened up a new way of relating to people. My prayer life is less formal, more intimate and contemplative. I no longer live in a state of emotional self-protection, worried about getting hurt. For the most part, I live without fear. When it does creep in, I am more aware of it and have tools to navigate through it. Most importantly I am comfortable in my own skin.

My own journey of emotional healing along with training has led me to where I am today. It's what enables me to identify with your pain. I feel a great responsibility to treat your experiences without judgment and with dignity and care.
